4 killed Saturday in auto accidents

— Four people were killed Saturday in motor vehicle accidents in Garland, Columbia and Craighead counties, the Arkansas State Police reported.

In Garland County, Joseph M. Wallace, 21, of Hot Springs was killed when he crashed a pickup on Arkansas 227, northwest of Hot Springs, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Wallace was headed south at 1:40 p.m. when the truck went off the road and struck a tree, the report says.

In Columbia County, Kenneth E. Williams, 33, of Magnolia died after he drove a vehicle off a road in Magnolia, according to a state police report.

Williams was headed south at 1:42 p.m. when he went off the road and struck a road sign. The vehicle overturned, and Williams was thrown out, the report says.

Williams was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, where he was pronounced dead at 7:17 a.m. Sunday, the report says.

In Craighead County, Gloria C. Taylor, 16, and Whitney Blake Rogers, 15, both of Bono, were killed when the Jeep they were in overturned on U.S. 63 in Jonesboro.

The Jeep was headed south on the highway at 9:50 p.m.Saturday when Taylor, the driver, attempted to change lanes and lost control, the report says. The Jeep slid and overturned in the median, coming to rest upside-down on the northbound side of the highway.

Passenger Robert Anthony Hunter II, 16, of Bono was treated at St. Bernards Medical Center and released, a hospital spokesman said.
