Louisiana school bus driver booked with DWI after accident

— The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office says a school bus driver was booked with driving while intoxicated after her bus spun off the road and flipped onto its side, injuring all four children on board.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Cindy Chadwick says the Summerfield Elementary School students had minor injuries.

She says investigators don’t think the driver was drunk, but suspect that she may have taken prescription drugs.

Sheriff Steve Prator says 57-year-old Janise Driggers was booked with careless driving, vehicular negligent injury, and first-offense DWI with children under age 12 on board.

His news release says Driggers ran off the road, over corrected, hit an embankment and spun at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
