TUCKERMAN — The Tuckerman High School baseball team’s victory over Piggott gave the Bulldogs their 14th victory of the season and put their coach in the record books.
The 11-8 win on Tuesday was the 1,000th win of Morgan Gilbert’s career, and also ranks him seventh nationally among active coaches.
Gilbert told The Jonesboro Sun that he also had a thousand wins when he was basketball coach at the school and feels fortunate to have coached so many good teams for so long.
Gilbert has had 373 losses during a career that spans 48 years. He spent his first three years at Tyronza followed by five at Bay before moving to Tuckerman.
The 70-year-old says he has no plans of retirement.
