Man removes ankle monitor, skips prison date, authorities say

A man failed to report to jail as required, cutting off his ankle monitor in the process, according to Hot Spring County authorities.

The sheriff's office says Donald Brown was fitted with an ankle monitor while space was opening up at the Arkansas Department of Correction, but he failed to report to the facility Wednesday as expected.

According to the sheriff's office, Brown cut off his monitor in Garland County.

Authorities are searching for Brown, a 43-year-old white male, 5-8 with gray hair and blue eyes.

He was to report to authorities Wednesday to begin a six-year prison sentence for manufacturing, delivery and possession of a controlled substance.
