More than 100 authors and other literary luminaries will take part in sessions, panels, performances, workshops, presentations, book sales and book signings as part of the Arkansas Literary Festival, today-Sunday centering on the Main Library of the Central Arkansas Library System, 100 Rock St., Little Rock, and spreading out to other venues in the River Market and Argenta Arts districts and downtown Little Rock. German percussionist Alexej Gerassimez, 24, will be the soloist in the North American premiere of the Mojave Concerto for Marimba by Michael Torke with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and conductor Philip Mann, 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Center Music Hall, West Markham Street and Broadway, Little Rock. Torke, the orchestra’s first Composer of the Year, will be on hand as well. The program will include two sonatas, originally for viola da gamba and harpsichord, by J.S. 9 LYON Break out your kilt and get ready for Highlandstyle fun and games at the 33rd Arkansas Scottish Festival, Friday-Sunday at Lyon College, Batesville. Bagpiping and drumming competitions, dancing, sheepdog demonstrations, games, a car show, a parade and children’s activities are on the schedule for this year’s celebration, with most of the activities taking place Saturday. This year, the Lyon College Pipe Band will kick things off a day early with a Celtic Concert, 7 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, 775 E. Boswell St., Batesville. General admission is free.
