Dardanelle teen arrested in threat to high school

— A 16-year-old boy has been charged with terroristic threatening and possession of an explosive device after he allegedly promised a violent attack on Dardanelle High School.

The Courier reports the teenager pleaded not guilty to the charges Thursday, and a judge set a $200,000 bond. The youth is being held at the Mansfield Juvenile Treatment Center.

An affidavit says the teen posted threats on his Facebook page in which he compared himself to one of the two shooters in the 1999 Columbine High School massacre. An affidavit says the teen promised his attack at Dardanelle would be even worse.

Police say investigators found a box with metal balls, black powder, nails and a metal pipe — and believe the youth was trying to build a bomb at his home.
