ALCOA, Tenn. A Lenoir City woman faces charges after trying to board a plane with a loaded handgun.
Twenty-seven-year-old Brittany Shook told police she had forgotten the .380-caliber Ruger pistol was in her purse when she went to the McGhee Tyson Airport to catch a plane to Florida.
The Daily Times reports a security screener saw the pistol when it went through an X-ray machine. The weapon was fully loaded with a magazine containing seven rounds.
The pistol was placed in evidence storage and Shook was given a citation. She must appear in Blount County court on April 23.
All firearms, ammunition and firearm parts are prohibited in carry-on baggage.
This is the fifth firearm found at McGhee Tyson this year.
