Officer uses Taser to subdue man

A man was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault, public intoxication and resisting arrest after attempting to attack an officer Friday.

An officer responded to a disturbance call to a residence on Clark Street Friday afternoon and found Alma Garrett and Kiwan Dandridge, 33, involved in a verbal argument on the front porch of the house. Garrett had picked up a stick and was shielding herself from Dandridge, who kept charging at her, according to the report from the Pulaski County sheriff's office.

The officer ordered Dandridge to come down off the porch. Dandridge replied with profanity, and when the officer attempted to step up onto the porch, Dandridge charged at him with balled fists and tried to attack him. The officer used a Taser on him, and Dandridge fell into the grassy area next to the porch. Dandridge was arrested and later taken to UAMS Medical Center.

Garrett said that her nephew, Dandridge, had been drinking all day and had been walking down the street yelling.

Dandridge apologized for attempting to hit the officer and admitted that he was under the influence of narcotics while he was en route to the hospital. Dandridge was taken to the jail and did not remember any of the events that led to his arrest, according to the report.
