Driver killed in head-on collision with truck in Greenbrier

— One person was killed and another injured Tuesday night when a sport utility vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Mack truck, authorities said.

It happened shortly after 11 p.m. on U.S. 65 in Greenbrier.

According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, Walter D. Weaver, 57, of Yellville, was driving a Honda CRV north on the highway when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck the southbound Mack truck.

Weaver died from unspecified injuries. A passenger in the Honda, 52-year-old Marguerite Singh, of Yellville, was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment.

The truck driver, 56-year-old Robert Mills, of Harrison, was not injured.
