91-year-old Alzheimer’s patient drowns in Lake Ouachita

Deputies from Garland County reported that a 91-year-old Alzheimer's disease patient drowned Sunday night in Lake Ouachita.

Berghea Gartrell of Mabelvale is believed to have walked off a dock during the night, a report from the Garland County sheriff's office said. She was found dead, floating in a boat slip. She had last been seen around 2 a.m. by her son.

No foul play is suspected, and there was no sign of trauma, the report said.
