A man was arrested on drug charges after a deputy responded to a call about a shotgun being fired on Saturday, reports said.

While a deputy was traveling to 49 Country Life Place in Midway around 12:45 a.m., he was told that the suspect had fled the scene and was given the vehicle description. He saw a matching vehicle and made a traffic stop.

The driver, Gavin Willis Stutts, 21, had a shotgun in his vehicle with a spent cartridge in the chamber. Officers found marijuana, a pipe and 31 suspected Xanax pills, the report said.

An investigation found that the gun had been fired, but that it had not been pointed at anyone, the report said.

Stutts faces disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance charges. He will appear in district court May 8.
