GM to add 600 dealerships to China network

By The Associated Press

This article was published April 23, 2012 at 11:01 a.m.

— General Motors Co. chairman Dan Akerson said Monday the automaker plans to open 600 dealerships in China this year, and nearly double production capacity despite a slowdown in sales growth.

China is the world’s biggest auto market by vehicles sold but sales growth slowed in the latest quarter because of government credit and investment controls aimed at slowing the Chinese economy.

GM will expand its dealership network from 2,900 last year to 3,500 by the end of this year, Akerson told reporters.

Well this has got to be "good" news for Obama... (sarc) Since we all know GM has repaid taxpayer money. (sarc) But wait, there's more "good" news about Obama's creating jobs with our tax dollars. This headline should make everyone feel all warm and fuzzy, helping a predominantly Muslim country. "Asian Call Center Workers Trained With U.S. Tax Dollars" to the sum of 100 million a year!!!!!!

@Reason, BUSH isn't President......Bush WASN'T President when this went on, "U.S. To Train 3,000 Offshore IT Workers"
Despite President Obama's pledge to retain more hi-tech jobs in the U.S., a federal agency run by a hand-picked Obama appointee has launched a $36 million program to train workers, including 3,000 specialists in IT and related functions, in South Asia.

Boy, I'm glad I don't spend every waking moment of my life thinking about politics. It sure would be a miserable existence, isn't it?

This isn't good news for anybody here, all the cars will be built and sold in China. If it works it might be good for the shareholders.
