Students, teachers honored with Stephens Award for academic excellence

— A total of four teachers and eight students were honored with the Stephens Award from The City Education Trust at a ceremony Monday afternoon at the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce.

Four teachers and eight students were honored with the Stephens Award from The City Education Trust at a ceremony at the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce on Monday afternoon. Teachers received $7,500 each, and students took home $5,000 cash for their achievements.

Teachers and students from seven different schools in the Little Rock area were honored for both their academic excellence teaching and learning in the classroom, along with being known as exemplary individuals.

Teachers Kara Branscum of Little Rock Christian Academyy, Michelle Dowell of Episcopal Collegiate, Melissa Anne Gazette of Mt. St. Mary and Betsy Hall of Little Rock Central were honored with a cash award of $7,500 each for their achievements.

Students Muhammed Abu-Rmaileh of Central, Margaret Anne Beetsrta of Episcopal Collegiate, Catie Edwards of Little Rock Parkview, Whitney Gao of Central, Rachel Madigan of Mt. St. Mary, Tom Simmermaker of Little Rock Catholic, Aaron Yin of Central and Tiancheng Zhang of Pulaski Academy were awards a $5,000 cash prize for their work.
