Attorney General Eric Holder is visiting Arkansas to talk about the Justice Department’s efforts to combat human trafficking.

Holder planned to speak at the Statehouse Convention Center on Tuesday night as part of the Frank and Kula Kumpuris Distinguished Lecture Series. The series is sponsored by the Clinton Foundation, the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service and AT&T.

A United Nations official on Monday said that as many as 2.4 million people may be victims of human trafficking worldwide at any given time.

Past speakers in the Kumpuris lecture series have included Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and former President Bill Clinton.

T6,

Holder should be thanked for cutting down on the drug trafficking in eastern Arkansas and elsewhere. Eastern Arkansas has been a haven for drugdealers ever since I can remember. For once, we have a Justice Department which appears to be making headway toward putting some of these criminals away.

I see you don't have the balls to do anything but peck on a keyboard. Full of all that hate and fear but still can't do anything but peck on that keyboard.

Populist, it's the local prosecutor who works to prosecute federal criminal laws, not "the Justice Department". Holder is only a mouthpiece for UNOHOO and not a very good one at that. Politics is local, not national.

Oh, Holder is going to give a class on ignoring the Constitution and the Laws of the United States? This should be interesting, NOT!

Orville,

These were FEDERAL indictments--not local. The UNITED STATES attorneys are part of and report to the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT, the Attorney General, and ultimately the president. Again, kudos to Attorney General Holder and the team of federal investigators and prosecutors who are cracking down on the drug trade.

Human Trafficking should be a good safe topic to publicly discuss.

Probably want to stay away from inconvenient issues like why prosecution of the claims of 2008 voter intimidation in Philadelphia wre dropped after a default judgment was in hand.

Also probably should avoid questions about selective enforcement of hate crime offenses like why there are no efforts to arrest or prosecute folks publicly putting a bounty on a person's head rather than letting the court do its job in Florida.

We have enough controversy without opening up those cans of worms.

Yeah Arkman, I bet he REALLY wouldn't want to discuss Fast and Furious and why he's suing states for voter ID laws..Or why he's suing states for enforcing immigration laws. Bet he gets all soft questions like his Boss.

Would it kill you right wingers to say that it is a good thing that the Justice Department is cracking down on the drug business in Arkansas? Yes, it would. You can't say anything nice about this administration, can you? It's all "Democrats are evil and Republicans are good."

I say the system is evil, Democrats and Republicans are puppets.

Populist - its no problem to acknowledge that the Admin cracking down on drug dealers is good - but its hard to join in their self-congratulatory kudos and fawning all over themselves for doing their job in one instance - when, for political expedience, they totally, conspicuously and spectacularly blow it off in so many others.
