— Katie Elizabeth Kummer and John Aaron Bruhl exchanged marriage vows at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dan Hauser officiated.

Melanie and Dale Kummer of Lexa are the parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late Gertrude and Rudolph Kummer of Lexa and the late Helen and Henry Ruesewald of West Helena.

The groom is the son of Rita and Win Bruhl, 82 Kingspark. His grandparents are Virginia and the late Gilbert Bruhl of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and the late Helen and Paul Tuttle of Indianapolis.

Arrangements of green and white hydrangeas, yellow lilies and daisies decorated the chancel. Music was by guitarists Phil and Tabitha Wildhirt. Scripture was read by Becky McCord of Jacksonville, N.C.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory ball gown of English tulle and lace. An antique blue brooch belonging to the bride’s grandmother embellished the satin Empire waistline. She carried a bouquet of yellow and white flowers surrounded by lamb’s ear and dusty miller.

Bridesmaids were Jill O’Briant of Helena-West Helena and Anna Wierciak of Little Rock. They wore emerald green, knee-length dresses with V-necklines and Empire waistlines.

Also attending the bride were Elizabeth and Madalyn Bruhl of West Lafayette, Ind., nieces of the groom. Emma Bruhl of Washington, also a niece of the groom, was flower girl.

Serving as groomsmen were Maj. Joseph Bruhl of Washington and Lt. Col. Jakob Bruhl of West Lafayette, brothers of the groom.

Guest tables at a reception in the ballroom at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church were covered with burlap table runners and held Mason jars filled with candy, candles and flowers. Mia Hall, an artist and friend of the couple, created centerpieces of green and white hydrangeas, yellow lilies and daisies, key limes and figs.

The bride has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Fay Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She is an intern architect at Allison Architects in Little Rock.

The groom is a graduate of Minneapolis College of Art and Design with a bachelor’s degree in furniture design. He is a furniture design and applied arts technician at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The couple will make their home in Little Rock after a wedding trip to Banff, Alberta, Canada.
