New Ash Flat Public Library to feature guest artist’s exhibit

ASH FLAT The new Ash Flat Public Library will present an exhibit of guest artist Patti Dunlap’s artworks at the library during August.
A meet-the-artist reception will be held for Dunlap from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 17, concurrent with the library’s grand opening .
Dunlap’s work includes Saddle Store, and her rendition of Thunderbird Lodge at Old Kia Kima, built in 1926 and restored in 2002, which appears on the 2012-2013 Cherokee Village Directory.
She began her career as a commercial artist creating illustrations for newspapers, magazines, phone-book covers, greeting cards and a Girl Scouts patch.
Friends of the Louisiana Public Broadcasting Art & Travel Auction, the Louisiana State Museum-Baton Rouge and the Charles Sumner School Museum in Washington, D.C.. have featured her work.
She has illustrated her first book, The Flying Quilt, written by local author Susan Hansen.
Dunlap is also in Volume II of Art and Artisans of the Ozarks, presented by the Palette Art League of Yellville.
She is a member of the Spring River Branch of the League of American Pen Women and the Arkansas Arts Council Registry.
The library off icially opened Aug. 1 with the following hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Fridays; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The first Ash Flat PublicLibrary Open-Mic Night will be from 6-7 on Aug. 21, and the library’s first Kids Art Club meeting will be from 6-7 p.m. Aug. 23.
The Kids Art Club will meet two Thursdays each month. Kids Night Out will be held from 6-7 p.m. the other two Thursdays each month.
