Body-in-barrel case term is 60 years

— Lloyd Jones, 36, was sentenced to 60 years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in the death of 16-year-old Angela Allen of Van Buren, whose body was found buried in a barrel on property owned by his family near Lavaca.

Jones entered the plea in Sebastian County Circuit Court before a courtroom full of Allen’s friends and relatives. Allen was lured from her home by Jones, who then strangled her in rural Sebastian County and buried her in a shallow grave, authorities have said.

Circuit Judge Stephen Tabor told Jones he would have to serve all 60 years of the sentence under the state’s habitual criminal law.
