One critically injured in Stuttgart shooting

Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a robbery that left three people injured in a shooting on Friday night.

Stuttgart police have confirmed one suspect was critically injured in the attempted robbery at the A-Z Foodmart at 720 N. Main Street in Stuttgart. The suspect is in critical condition at UAMS in Little Rock.

Assistant Chief Steven Bobo with the Stuttgart police department said the shooting occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m.

State police said witnesses reported the suspects were two teenagers and at least one was armed with a handgun. Reports from state police said the suspects entered the store and fired several shots into the ceiling of the store and demanded money.

Arkansas State Police said one of the clerks, Juan Jose Hundorus, was wounded when a suspect reportedly approached Hundorus and was shot as the suspect demanded money.

A second clerk was able to wrestle a gun from one suspect, who was shot and wounded by the clerk, state police reported in a news release.

The other suspect remains in the Arkansas County jail, according to Bobo.

State police said the names of the teenagers are not being released while agents consult with prosecutors regarding charges that have not been filed at this time.
