CHALK TALK UALR improved its subpar rebounding margin by 0.6 after Thursday’s victory over Troy, when it held a 38-36 rebounding edge. The Trojans appear to have a good chance to improve the statistic even more today against a Warhawks team that has a minus-9.3 rebounding margin.

Louisiana-Monroe was outrebounded 49-30 in a season opening loss to Oklahoma and 36-28 in Thursday’s loss to Western Kentucky.

Leading scorer Ed Townsel had 13 points in the loss to Florida International, but he was just 5 of 15 from the field. The Red Wolves allowed the Panthers to shoot 60 percent from the field.

CHALK TALK UAPB is still waiting for All-Southwestern Athletic Conference forward Daniel Broughton to get healthy. The junior has missed every game this season with a knee injury. Coach George Ivory hopes to get him back for today’s game. Davon Haynes and Terrell Kennedy have picked up the slack.

CHALK TALK UALR has won its past three home games by at least 23 points. Leading scorers Janette Merriex and Taylor Gault struggled offensively Thursday night against Troy, but UALR forced 23 turnovers to help spark the offense. UALR should be able to create turnovers again today.

Louisiana-Monroe averages 25.8 turnovers per game and had 36 on Thursday in a loss to Western Kentucky.

But it still struggles to rebound and leading scorer Jane Morrill was limited over the past two games. Morrill had 12 points Thursday but was held scoreless in the first half. She had 10 in a loss to Southern California.

Senior forward Megan Herbert leads the nation in rebounding with an average of 15.8 per game.
