Paul Petrino, who just completed his third year as Arkansas' offensive coordinator, interviewed earlier this week for the head coaching vacancy at Idaho.

— Paul Petrino, who has spent three seasons as an offensive coordinator at Arkansas, will be named head coach at Idaho on Monday.

Petrino returned to Arkansas last December after spending two years in the same capacity at Illinois. He spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons with the Razorbacks.

The younger brother of former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino, Paul Petrino previously spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Idaho from 1992-94. There he worked for John L. Smith, who served as Arkansas' interim head coach this season.

Petrino, 45, has also served as offensive coordinator at Louisville and for the NFL's Atlanta Falcons prior to his first stint with the Razorbacks. From 2000-02, he was a quarterbacks coach at Southern Miss.

He is the second Arkansas offensive coordinator to land a head coaching job in as many years. Garrick McGee was named head coach at Alabama-Birmingham last December.

Good news. Now does this mean that Long will entice him back to UAF as HC once he signs a conract there? ala JLS

Good luck to him. Looking forward to having a new head coach and a completely new staff, hopefully one that will win some football games.

Nice headline. First I said 'wow Bobby, Idaho? Really?' Then I read. And my next thought was 'wow Idaho, Paul? Really?' Wish him well, of course, but file this under surprise for me. And, naturally, I had to look at the comments to see how the constant 'AR is a disaster' post from Jack would tie in. Nicely done.
