The Benton Police Department is offering warrant amnesty throughout the month of December.

Nonviolent warrant holders can go to the police department, pay a warrant fee and then receive a court date.

Police officials urge anyone who has a warrant or thinks he might to contact the department immediately.

The program will continue through Dec. 31. Starting Jan. 1, anyone with a warrant will again look at facing jail time, regardless of whether he's charged with a nonviolent offense, officials said.

More information is available by calling the Benton Police Department at (501) 778-1171.
