Carthage man killed after pickup hits bridge, flips

A Carthage man died Sunday morning after the pickup he was driving struck a bridge and overturned, according to a preliminary crash report.

Daren Green, 25, was traveling north on Arkansas 229 shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday when his 1992 GMC pickup crossed the highway’s centerline, hit a bridge and flipped over, Arkansas State Police report said.

Green was pronounced dead at the scene by Dallas County Coroner Tom Tidwell at 6:05 a.m.

At the time of the accident, the weather was clear and the road was dry, the state police wrote in a crash report.

Green was the 502nd to die in person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
