— History buffs can look forward to a year’s worth of walking tours organized by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program.

The program announced Tuesday that it has scheduled 10 walking tours in various parts of the state from March through December.

The first walking tour is in Saline County and includes the Marylake Carmelite Monastery.

The series concludes in December with a tour of the Marked Tree Commercial Historic District in Poinsett County.

Also scheduled are the 2013 lunchtime history tours in Pulaski County, which are set for each month next year.

All tours are free and open to the public. The full schedule can be accessed at www.arkansaspreservation.org or by calling (501) 324-9880.

The program is run through the Arkansas Department of Heritage.
