— The University of Arkansas is offering students a sweet study break: a gingerbread competition.

The Honors College will provide students with graham crackers, icing, candy canes and other goodies to fuel their creativity during the event Friday.

The school says about 20 teams of students are expected to compete and that Honors College staff will judge the entries.

Past award winners have ranged from a gingerbread replica of Old Main to the Great Sphinx of Giza.

Students are also encouraged to wear their tackiest holiday garb to the event that begins at 3 p.m. Friday at Pomfret Hall in Fayetteville.

Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m.
