NLR police to host Shop with a Cop

Fifty children from 22 North Little Rock families will have the opportunity to "Shop with a Cop" on Sunday.

The families chosen for this year's program are from working, single-parent households, the North Little Rock police said in a statement.

Each child Sunday will receive a $200 Wal-Mart gift card and will be assigned to a police officer, North Little Rock police said.

The officers will escort the children through the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 4450 E. McCain Blvd., helping them pick out gifts for their family members and themselves.

After children choose the gifts, volunteers will be waiting to wrap them.

The second installment of "Shop with a Cop" will be Dec. 16.
