NLR water break puts some under boil order

Central Arkansas Water is urging about 250 of its North Little Rock customers to boil their water as a precaution after a water main broke Friday afternoon.

Officials with the water utility said the broken line, which occurred spontaneously along a section of West Scenic Hill Drive and Parkview Drive, was discovered about noon. Crews isolated the break about 3:20 p.m. and will continue repairs throughout the night, according to the news release.

The customers in the following areas are under a precautionary boil order:

  • North and South of West Scenic Hill Drive from Parkview Drive to East Scenic Hill Drive
  • Avalon Drive
  • Cliffwood Circle

Officials said that temporary water service should be restored to the affected customers by midnight. CAW personnel will collect water-quality samples once the line is restored and plan to lift the boil order by Saturday evening or Sunday if the samples are acceptable, the release states.

While under the order, affected customers should boil for at least one minute any tap water used for consumption, food preparation or dish washing. Ice cubes from automatic ice machines should also be discarded.

Customers with questions about the boil order may contact the utility's dispatch line at (501) 377-1239.
