— The U.S. economy added 146,000 jobs in November and the unemployment rate fell to 7.7 percent, the lowest since December 2008. The government said superstorm Sandy had only a minimal effect on the figures.

The Labor Department’s report Friday offered a mixed picture for the economy.

Hiring remained steady during the storm and in the face of looming tax increases.

But, the government said, employers added 49,000 fewer jobs in October and September than initially estimated.

And the unemployment rate fell to a four-year low in November from 7.9 percent in October, mostly because more people stopped looking for work and weren’t counted as unemployed.

Until that rates gets to be 4-5% we are just treading water. Remember the numbers do not reflect the reality of what unemployment and employment are actually. For the last 30-40 years, the numbers have been so manipulated they have become almost meaningless. This is not to discredit the people putting the numbers together but the ones who control the criteria are not completely honest. This is not to downplay the present administration actions but it is the same old story. Obama bought into the Bush/Reagan/Clinton dogma of Wall Street rules, unfair trade deals and flood the country with uneducated illegals to create a bottom rung to politically manipulate. Remember we went from Paulson-from Goldman Sachs to Geither-same bunch and Rubin -same bunch.
