Guyana seizes cocaine in fish food bound for China

— Authorities in Guyana have seized $10 million worth of cocaine hidden in bags of fish food bound for China.

The director of the South American country’s Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit said officials confiscated 580 pounds of cocaine. James Singh said Saturday that the cocaine pellets were hidden in 1,500 bags and that one person has been arrested.

The announcement comes about a week after police seized 772 pounds of cocaine in a shipment of soap destined for Nigeria.

Guyana is considered a major transshipment point for drugs from South America headed to Europe and the U.S.
