Strong storms, possible tornado in Arkansas

— Authorities say a strong storm that included a possible tornado has caused one minor injury and damaged homes and buildings in northern Arkansas.

National Weather Service meteorologist John Robinson in Little Rock says three mobile homes, a duplex, three barns, and four outbuildings were damaged in the storms early Sunday afternoon about four miles west of Viola in Fulton County. Robinson says there are also about 100 electric customers without power in the area along U.S. Highway 62.

A Fulton County sheriff’s dispatcher says one witness reported that the storm included a small tornado shortly before 1 p.m.

Robinson said a tornado can not be confirmed until weather service investigators examine the damage.

The area is along the Arkansas-Missouri state line about 160 miles north of Little Rock.
