— A funnel cloud touched down in Fulton County on Sunday afternoon, injuring one person, damaging several structures and displacing three families, according to county officials.

Terry Sommerfield, a Fulton County sheriff’s office dispatcher, said the windstorm blew in near U.S. 62 just two miles west of Viola about 1:05 p.m.

John Robinson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said he couldn’t confirm a tornado touched down until a survey of the area today, but he said the wind took the roof off of three mobile homes, and damaged three barns and four other structures.

The reported injury was minor, Robinson said.
