Motorcycle wreck in NLR kills man, hurts another

A Monday night motorcycle accident killed one man and hurt another, the North Little Rock Police Department said Tuesday.

Officers responded about 11:30 p.m. to the scene at Washington and Main streets in North Little Rock, police said.

There, they found Roger Rayfus, 56, who said that he was sleeping under the Main Street Bridge when a motorcycle hit him and that the motorcyclist was lying unresponsive on a nearby sidewalk.

The motorcyclist, later identified as Michael Ross, 45, of North Little Rock, had been traveling north on the bridge over the Arkansas River when his bike hit a concrete retaining wall and landed beneath the bridge, police said.

Ross was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rayfus was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock for injuries that did not appear life-threatening, police said.
