Raymond Monica named head coach at Arkansas Tech

Raymond Monica has been announced as the next head coach at Arkansas Tech, the school announced Thursday.

Monica comes to Arkansas from Kutztown (Pa.) University, where he was the coach for the past seven seasons. In his time there, Monica posted a 45-34 record as head coach of the Bears.

A Garyville, La. native, Monica replaces Steve Mullins, who resigned last month after 16 seasons at the helm.

In his coaching career, Monica made stops at Northeast Mississippi Community College, North Alabama and Temple, where he was defensive coordinator for eight seasons before taking over at Kutztown.

In 2011, Monica led the Bears to an 11-2 record and an appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs. Kutztown finished last season 7-4.
