UAMS sets computer classes for adults 50, older

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences will host computer classes in January for adults ages 50 and older.

The nonprofit volunteer group SeniorNet will administer four courses at the UAMS Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging, according to a Thursday statement.

The classes, starting Jan. 3, are:

  • Fundamentals for Beginners, Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. –noon.    
  • Introduction to Computers, Mondays and Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m. 
  • File Management, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-noon.
  • Excel, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1-3 p.m.

In addition, an iPad workshop will be from held 2-3:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at the institute and will cover topics such as the tablet device's cost, iPad storage, Wi-Fi, data plans, downloading library books, printing and applications.

The monthly course costs are $45 for individuals and $75 for couples, UAMS said.

The classes will be held in Room 2156 at the institute, 629 Jack Stephens Drive in Little Rock.
