I-540 lane closures planned in Fort Smith

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department said crews sweeping driving surfaces will close the north and southbound lanes of Interstate 540 in the Fort Smith area beginning Monday.
The closures will be between Highway 271 and the bridge over the Arkansas River.
The closures will be in place daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting Monday and ending December 21.
Motorists can expect either the right or left lane to be closed during this time.
