BARBARA CAROLE COCHRAN was born November 11, 1937,and left peacefully December 13, 2012. She lived a full life, but in the end Barbara lost the battle with severe diabetes. Barbara retired from JCPenney’s after thirty five years of service.She was preceded in death by husband, Phillip Cochran.

Barbara leaves behind three children: Erwin Brown, Brian Brown, Kathy Bonilla and her daughter, Kristin Copeland of North Little Rock, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Melanie, Clint, Johnathan, Regina, and Robin; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Sharon Henderson, Irma Mills, and Wanda Rice.

LAURA JEAN GAYLES, 72, of Jacksonville, born March 8, 1940,in Abingdon, Virginia, to parents, Alonzo Yancy and Laura Clark, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jean is survived by herhusband of 52 1/2 years, David A. Gayles; her son, Garry E. Gayles of San Jose, California; her daughter, Laura Y. Gayles-Stephens of Birmingham, Alabama; and her grandchildren, Gregory David Stephens of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Amelia R., and Lorenzo M. Gayles of San Jose, California.

JHO ANNE PETTY, 82, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Pleasant Valley Living Center. She was born April 20, 1930, in Pine Bluff to Stewart M. and Addie L. Mitchell Meeks. Mrs. Petty was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts and reading. She was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, White Sulphur Chapter #583, Order of the Eastern Star and Providence Home Extension Chapter.

Mrs. Petty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Dr. Welton Meeks, and a sister, Thelma Thomas.

Survivors include her sons, Leon D. “Skeeter” Petty of White Bluff, Tennessee, Danny G. Petty of Little Rock; a daughter, Nancy Taylor of Pine Bluff; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

HOT SPRINGS - Lou Netta Christian Main, 89, of HotSprings went to her Heavenly Home Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, surrounded by her children. She was born Feb. 13, 1923, to the late Reacy Smith Ward & C.G. Ward in Hollis, Ark.

Lou was predeceased by her first husband, Oscar “Christy” Christian; her second husband, William Main; one daughter, Sue Kasik, and one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include one son, Eddy (Thonya) Christian; two daughters, Diane (Rob) Bischof and Lou Ann (John) Faginkrantz; three sisters, Irene Webb, Betty Furr and Louise North; grandchildren, Kim Kasik Trevino, Kathy Kasik Bellock, Michael Kasik, Tammy Christian Rauth, Christa White, Katie Bischof Boguslawski, Caroline Bischof Howse, Claire White Maines and Jennifer Christian Ketcheside; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Lou was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church. She was a spirited and loving homemaker who cherished her time with her family and friends. She was a true Southern woman who showed her love and devotion with the food she prepared for those she loved. Her most cherished assets were her four children and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that followed.

Visitation will be prior to the service. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hot Springs Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Beyer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are George Kasik, Rob Bischof, John Faginkrantz, Michael Kasik, David Boguslawski and Nathan Howse.

HOT SPRINGS - Shelby Jean Vining, age 67, of Hot Springs, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at St.Joseph Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs. Mrs. Vining was born July 15, 1945, Dumas, Ark. She attended school in Gould and graduated in 1964. She also attended Draughon Business School and worked for the Dumas Telephone Company for several years before moving to Pine Bluff.

Shelby married the love of her life, Robert Vining, in 1968, and enjoyed her life with him until his death in 2004. Robert and Shelby owned and operated the Sherrill Flying Service in Sherrill for 30 years before retiring to Hot Springs in 1993. They also owned and operated Country Ceramics and Gifts in Sherrill for 14 years.

After retirement, she and Robert spent many days at their lake house boating, fishing and entertaining friends. Shelby was extremely active until her death and enjoyed spending time surrounded by her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Imogene Zoner of St. Louis, and her maternal grandparents, Herbert and Helen Hendrickson of Gould. She will be missed by her aunt, Carrie Lou Murphy of Dumas, and several cousins and numerous friends.

Graveside services will be Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at 1 p.m. in Bellwood Annex Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Mike Snell officiating. The family will receive friends at Robinson’s Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.

LONOKE - Albert Wayne Elmore, 82, of Lonoke died Thursday, December 13, 2012. He was born November 29, 1930, to parents Beulah and William “Bill” Elmore of Lonoke.

Wayne was preceded in death by the love of his life for 58 years,Mary Ruth Elmore; also sister, Lila Smith, brothers Gentry, Guy, W.J., Aaron and Paul Elmore.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Elmore Rudder (Charles), and son Gary Wayne Elmore (Suzette), all of Lonoke. Wayne was affectionately known as “Papaw” to his seven grandchildren: Stefan Elmore, Whitney Elmore Hall, Jeb Rudder, Ryan Elmore, Stephen Parker, Aubry Rudder Bost, Drew Parker and eight greatgrandchildren. He also leaves behind a very special friend, Mary Rice.

Wayne was a life-long member of the Methodist Church and resident of Lonoke. He was on the board of directors for PCA (Ag Heritage), Lonoke School Board, Lonoke United Methodist Church, member of Masonic Lodge No. 51 and a veteran of the Korean War.

He attended Southern State College in Magnolia, and began his career with the Arkansas Gazette. In 1962 he returned to Lonoke to begin farming on the family farm, and was a founding member of the American Fish Farmers Federation. Wayne was a steward of the land and avid lover of nature and conservation preservation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors with family, and horse racing. He helped form the Lonoke American Legion Baseball Program while coaching for many years. He also served as the state baseball commissioner for the American Legion. After retiring from farming, Wayne was very instrumental in the development of the federal crop insurance program in Arkansas.

ROYAL - Nonie Lee McDaniel, 103, of Royal, Arkansas passedaway Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012. She was born to the late James G. and Americus Armanda Bailey Lessel in Star City, Arkansas. Nonie was preceded in death by her parents;husband, Carl McDaniel; sister, Merle Clark; and grandson, Joey Davis.

Nonie enjoyed caring for each family member with her tender loving care. She will be missed by all who knew her.

HORN LAKE, Miss. - Steven Roy Myers, 58, of Horn Lake, Mississippi, born November 28, 1954 in McKinney, Texas to parents, Roy and Mollie Myers, passed away on Wednesday, December12, 2012. He was a Veteran of the United State Air Force. He was employed by FedEx for 25 years.

Steven is survived by his parents, Roy and Mollie Myers; his son, Marcus Wayne Myersof the home; and his daughter, Kimberly Michelle McGhee of Canton, Georgia. He is also survived by three brothers, Brad Myers of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Russell Myers of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Bill Myers of Homewood, Alabama; one grandchild, Kylie McGhee; and several other nieces and nephews.
