No matter what 'laws' are in place, only law-abiding citizens OBEY those laws. The criminals and the nut cases could care less about laws - only preying on those who have no protection - statistics show that these mass shootings have occurred in places where guns are 'banned' - colleges, theaters, schools.. Places known to have no defense are selcted as the targets. The Colorado theater shooter could have gone to other theaters closer to his home, but those have no 'banned guns' policy -- he chose the one that was explicity - 'NO GUNS ALLOWED'. He knew those people would not be armed and he could inflict the most damage. I'm just saying, only law-abiding citizens obey the 'laws', not the bad guys.

Agreed, again the "lawmakers" are clueless as to what the problem really is all about. With the terribly sad events at Sandy Hook, just like in the case of the countries financial situation; the democrats are going down the wrong path. The issue at Sandy Hook was not the gun, it is a people problem, but as usual the democrats will attempt to divert and corrupt this terrible event with gun control talk and/or legislation which will not solve the problem just like new taxes won't solve our financial problems. When will people learn YOU GET THE GOVERNMENT YOU DESERVE!

I hope we have the government we deserve. One that listens to the people instead of lobbyists.

If the teacher or the principle had had a concealed carry license and been packing this would have been averted or at least limited! But the typical reaction of all the freaks and morons in the liberal left is to readily jump to the supposedly obvious but WRONG conclusion. Guns don't kill people, people kill people and killing people doesn't require a gun, either! The cause is parents who think Johnny is perfect but don't nurture him just spoil him to stay out fo their "hair"; parents who demand that schools don't discipline Johnny and they don't either just buy him video games, cellphones, designer jeans, etc; parents who demand or are passive God be taken out of everywhere; the Media that sensationalizes and glamorizes this type of violence; and the Gov that takes a soft view of parents who neglect their responsibilities but draws the arrives at the wrong reasons. School shootings could be eliminated or limited by training and allowing concealed carry by volunteer teachers trained and qualified who could come into action to take out any perpetrator who came into their school. This would also deter these events with this knowledge. But until parents come to grips with the responsibility of raising their off springs in a responsible manner this will continue.

They stick to their Bibles and Guns because they do not trust their government.
Wackos always go to do their evil to the places that they know will have no armed resistance, schools, hospitals, universities, et. al., where guns are banned.
    No aircraft hijacking lately? Why?

Let's take the guns away from all law abiding citizens. Will the criminals still have and USE guns indescriminately? Now let's arm all law abiding citizens. Now will the criminal be cautious about committing a crime? It does not take a genius to figure out which scenario is the best for everyone.

There are no airline hijacking because we are spending billions screening and protecting a relatively small number of locations. That effort can't be translated into every school and mall, theater, church, meeting location in the country unless you want to send your whole paycheck to the government just for this cause. There are probably going to be some restrictions on purchase of guns, ammo and clips after this but there needs to be even more done in dealing with the mentally disturbed in this country. Families can't deal with these people on their own. This is a rightful place for government intervention to help prevent sick people from doing this kind of harm.

The shooting took place inside of two minutes, just which area of the school should the person/persons with CC be located. What about when they go to the bathroom? What about events at the schools after hours, plays, ball games etc? Ban the sale of all asault rifles and high capicity clips, magazines, drums etc. Take a different approach to mental illness in this country. KCSAP, let the republicans fight this tooth and toenail and they will just drive another nail into grand ole party coffen.

LETSBEREALISTIC, this time I agree with you except for teachers and principals with a CC on campus. I think police should do that, unless teachers and principals are trained very very well in gun saftey, etc. No matter the law's, criminals will have guns. To not allow gun sales, then criminal's will be the only one to have them. As stated, guns don't kill, it's the person behind it. Longer waiting periods and stronger background checks for all weapons is good. There is no reason someone needs to have a weapon right away and if they have nothing to hide, stronger background checks won't hurt. This may allow a person to cool off if using it to harm another is their intention. But if they plan to use the weapon to harm another, they will find a way. And, terrible damage can be done even with say a .22 and a small clip. It's the person.

firefighter.......So you have a 27 year old teacher with her 9mm Glock with a 10 round clip, she would still have been outgunned by this nut job with his Bushmaster and 300 rounds of amunition. So you want as part of the Curriculum for becomming a teacher, that he/she needs to have completed their firearms/assault training before being certified to teach in the US. Hey, first graders, welcome to the local school battle ground.
