A cold front will bring the possibility of severe thunderstorms to Arkansas on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said in a news release.
Meteorologist John Robinson said the strongest possibility for severe weather will be Wednesday evening, but the storm could arrive in the Northwest corner of the state late Wednesday afternoon.
Robinson said damaging wind and hail would be the greatest threat with this system, but tornadoes could not be ruled out.
"I do expect a number of severe thunderstorm warnings to become necessary, and perhaps a small number of tornado warnings," Robinson said.
Rainfall amounts are estimated to be from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch, but some areas could see up to an inch of rain.
The system is expected to exit the state early Thursday morning.
Robinson said light snow or flurries could occur in the northwestern part of Arkansas on Thursday morning from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m., but significant accumulation is not expected.
