Man falls down Tulsa elevator shaft, dies

By The Associated Press

This article was published December 20, 2012 at 7:46 a.m.

— Tulsa police say a man is dead after he apparently fell down an elevator shaft in a vacant building.

Police say two men were taking shelter from cold weather Thursday in the former Abundant Life building in downtown Tulsa. Police say the second man called 911 from a nearby convenience store after the incident.

Emergency crews are working to remove the body from the building, which has been vacant for about a decade.

Authorities say the building contains asbestos so crews are taking safety precautions.

Police say they don’t believe foul play was involved in the death.
