Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel : DANNY JOHNSTON / AP

— State phone records show that Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel called a lawyer with whom he admitted an extramarital relationship twice from his office, but did not communicate with her using his state-issued cell phone.

McDaniel’s office late Friday afternoon released details of the phone calls between the attorney general and Hot Springs lawyer Andrea L. Davis. McDaniel this week admitted that he had an inappropriate relationship with Davis in 2011.

McDaniel’s office initially had rejected reporters’ requests for records relating to any contact he had with Davis, calling them “working papers” from his office. A spokesman said Friday McDaniel decided to release some of the records even though he believes they’re exempt from the law.

McDaniel is a Democrat and the only announced candidate for governor in 2014.

Feeling some heat, huh? Did Andi really say that Dustin was familiar with her moral fiber? I bet. It would almost be funny if it wasn't the AR AG. Sure looks like she's asked him for help on more than one occasion. And why is McDaniel staying in hotels in Little Rock? Time to resign, Dustin.

When were these calls made? Did he call her from home while his wife was in the next room?

NoUserName,

When did he stay in a hotel in Little Rock? Was it at taxpayer expense? Doesn't he have a home in the Little Rock area? IF he stayed in a hotel at taxpayer expense for the purposes of engaging in inappropriate relations with opposing counsel, I'd say resignation time. If it was on his own dime, he gets to stay unless we find that he was somehow involved in a coverup following the Maxwell Anderson murder. He needs to have a press conference to answer questions about this murder and his lack of involvement in any coverup. McDaniel may just have had bad luck to have been having an affair with somebody implicated in a murder. Former Congressman Gary Condit had the bad luck of having had an affair with somebody who was murdered, Chandra Levy. Turns out that he was innocent of the murder, but the problem is that people just don't trust mean who lie and cheat. If you are guilty of an affair, people jump to the conclusion that you may be guilty of much more. In any event, I don't think he is gubernatorial material, but my mind is not made up on whether he has to resign.

Scratch that. There is a link to a pdf underneath the picture that includes all the stuff released. I saw a bunch of hotels in AR and there is one for the Peabody. But it's the one in Memphis. I didn't catch that first time out and thought it was the one downtown. My bad. Sorry Dustin. As for the rest, it isn't the affair. That alone, to me, wouldn't warrant a resignation. But it's the fact that he's the AG and the affair was with an opposing counsel who did appear to lean on him for a favor or two.
