— FOOTBALL Mena coach takes LR Christian job Mena Coach Jeff Weaver is leaving after four seasons to become coach at Little Rock Christian.

Weaver, 42, replaces Justin Kramer, who resigned last month after going 16-24 the past four seasons.

Weaver, a 1988 Greenwood graduate, called the job a “great opportunity” for him and his family.

“In the Christian environment, the football job, I think, is great,” Weaver said.

Weaver was 22-24 at Mena, highlighted by a 9-4 mark and a Class 4A quarterfinal playoff berth in 2010.

Before taking the Mena job, Weaver was an assistant at Greenwood from 1998-2008.

He was offensive line coach on Greenwood’s 2000 state championship team, wide receivers coach on Greenwood’s 2005 state championship team and offensive coordinator on the school’s state championship teams in 2006 and 2007.
