Museum planned for Oswald house

— A Dallas suburb is transforming into a museum the home that Lee Harvey Oswald visited and stored the rifle he used to kill President John F. Kennedy.

The Dallas Morning News

reported Saturday that the city of Irving wants to complete the restoration in time for the assassination’s 50th anniversary.

City archivist Kevin Kendro is trying to re-create the home Ruth Paine lived in when Marina Oswald and her baby went to stay with her while the unemployed Lee Harvey Oswald hunted for a job. Paine now lives in California.

The night before Kennedy’s assassination on Nov. 22, 1963, Oswald went to Paine’s house, took a rifle from the garage and left his wedding ring on a dresser before going to Dallas to kill the president.

Irving will spend up to $100,000 on the restoration.
