Dread making bread? Now, there’s No Knead

— Fleischmann’s yeast is one of the most popular brands in the country, and now the company has a new innovation to make your baking even easier.

Simply Homemade No Knead Bread Mix is made to be ready in less than an hour, and it’s done in just three steps.

The mix contains all the ingredients (flour mix, yeast and sugar), and all you have to do is add water, stir, rise and bake. It comes in Stoneground Wheat, Multi-Grain, Italian Herb and Country White versions that sell for about $3 per 14-ounce package at most major stores. Each package makes one loaf.

We got to try the finished bread in the newsroom and it was amazingly delicious.

The company’s website, SimplyHomemadeBread.com, offers more information, ideas for stir-ins and recipes to go with the product, and you can download a coupon as well.

Is Folgers really the best part of waking up? I’ve never really figured it out, but for the most part, I do know the well-established brand offers a good selection of coffees that are among the most reasonably priced in stores today.

The company expanded its line of bagged Gourmet Selections to include six dessert-inspired flavors: Vanilla Biscotti, Baked Berry Cobbler, Caramel Drizzle, Coconut Cream Pie, Toasted Hazelnut and Mocha Swirl. They cost about $6 a bag.

They also offer Gourmet Selections in varieties that include Morning Cafe light roast, Traditional Blend medium roast, Lively Colombian medium roast, Lively Colombian Decaf medium roast and Delicious Dark in a dark roast.

These also cost about $6 a bag.

If you like the K-Cup packs foryour fancy-schmancy coffeemakers, they sell varieties that include Gourmet Selections Classic Roast and Morning Cafe flavors, Black Silk dark roast, Lively Colombian medium roast, Lively Colombian Decaf medium roast, Vanilla Biscotti and Caramel Drizzle.

These cost $7 to $7.50 for a 12-pack.

From now through Jan. 2, Folgers is inviting consumers to visit Folgers.com/holiday to become a member of the Wakin’ Up Club and complete an official entry form. Prizes include coffeemakers, giftcards, coffee for a year and $10,000.

When it comes to sandwich spreads, it seems that the lines are firmly drawn between those who use mayonnaise and those who use salad dressings like Miracle Whip. I prefer mayo, and recently started buying Heinz Mayonnaise.

I don’t think it’s new, but I just don’t remember ever seeing it in stores in Arkansas until a couple of months ago.

But it’s here now and that’s what counts.

The mayonnaise is very creamy and flavorful, and gives the other name brand mayos a run for their money. I found it at my local Wal-Mart Supercenter, but it should be sold at most major stores, and costs about $3 a jar, depending on where you shop.
