Second thoughts

— Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman played for San Francisco 49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh at Stanford and was on the Cardinal’s 2009 team that beat Southern Cal 55-21 in Los Angeles.

The 2009 Stanford-USC game is remembered best for Harbaugh’s decision to go for a two-point conversion late in the game ahead by 27 points. The two-point conversion was not successful, but then-USC Coach Pete Carroll - now the Seahawks’ coach - asked Harbaugh after the game, “What’s your deal?”

Meanwhile, on Sunday night in Seattle, Carroll and Sherman’s Seahawks beat Harbaugh’s 49ers 42-13. Late in the fourth quarter, Sherman wanted Carroll to get back at Harbaugh.

“I told Pete, ‘Let’s score and go for two,’ ” Sherman told reporters Sunday night. “He said, ‘We have more class than that.’ ”

Good call, Pete.

Titans fail

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams was so discouraged with his team’s play that he couldn’t bear to watch the end of the Titans’ 55-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

“I was pretty upset,” Adams told The Tennessean in Nashville,Tenn. “I just didn’t want to watch any more of that mess.”

The Titans (5-10) trailed 55-0 before scoring with 1:39 remaining.

Quarterback Jake Locker completed 13 of 30 passes for 140 yards, threw 2 interceptions and was sacked 7 times.

“He didn’t have a chance,” Adams said. “They were on him like a dog on a cat. He was kind of fighting for his life.”

Adams is hearing it from disgruntled Titans fans who have seen their team go from one of the top teams in the AFC less than a decade ago to one of the worst.

“People are not happy - they don’t want to watch games like this. I don’t want to watch games like this,” Adams said. “People under my suite at the stadium, they let me know in their voices they don’t like what is going on.

“I’ll be 90 years old on my next birthday on Jan. 3. I am in good health, but it is a chore to fly up to Nashville and when I get up there I don’t like to see them play poorly. The fans are not happy with me. I need to figure out what I need to do to make things work and see if changes need to be made.”Food talk

Realignment in college athletics is making Los Angeles Times columnist Chris Dufresne hungry.

“The 13-school football configuration [of the Big East] sounds more like a road trip on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” Dufresne wrote.

Cincinnati (chili spaghetti).

Tulane (jambalaya). San Diego State (fish tacos). Temple (cheese steak).” They said it
