Shooting suspect held in Fort Smith

— A Fort Smith man remained in the Sebastian County jail Monday in lieu of $75,000 bond after he was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him in the shooting of an Oklahoma man.

Adam Eugene Lane, 23, was arrested Friday night on a warrant charging him with first-degree battery and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a Fort Smith police news release.

He was charged in the shooting early Thursday of Christian Michael Davis, 19, of Arkoma, Okla., who was shot once in the torso during an argument with Lane and two other men at D&J Auto Sales at 2419 Towson Ave., the news release stated.

The release stated Davis was with two other men who were trying to restart the disabled pickup of one of his companions when they encountered Lane, Darren Lee Bohlman, 28, and Joe Michael Jones, 52, at the car lot.

Bohlman and Jones were arrested Friday on charges of hindering apprehension as investigators tried to identify the shooter.

According to the news release, Bohlman and Jones denied knowing the shooter, each of the men telling detectives that the other man was acquainted with him.

Lane was identified later Friday as the shooter, although the news release did not specify how he was identified.

Bohlman and Jones were released from the county jail Friday after posting bonds of $10,000 each, according to jail records.
