— Thousands of Entergy customers were without power Tuesday afternoon as a storm packing a wintry mix of snow and ice moved through the state.

The utility reported on its website that more than 60,000 customers were in the dark about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday. More than 30,000 of those were in Pulaski County and more than 8,000 were in Garland County.

In Little Rock, ice was forming on many trees, snapping branches and downing power lines in some locations. A large swath of the city north of Interstate 630 and east of Interstate 430 was in the dark at 4:20 p.m., according to Entergy's online map of power failures.

No estimate on when the power would be restored was known.

"Freezing rain, sleet, snow and high winds in your area are causing numerous outages and we are expecting additional damages from this weather system," Entergy said. "Road conditions are making travel very dangerous and slow. Our crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible. We will provide estimated times of restoration when damage assessments can be safely completed."

The North Little Rock Electric Department said it was also working Tuesday on restoring power to some customers in North Little Rock and Sherwood.

The power failures come less than a week after a wind storm that also knocked power out to thousands of Arkansas residents.

Excuses. Every time the wind blows it seems someone in LR loses power. Entergy, your infrastructure sucks.
