Hector receives $10,000 in donations after fire

HECTOR — Officials in Hector say they’ve received $10,000 in community donations after a former elementary school burned to the ground.
Hector Superintendent Walt Davis said local businesses and churches have chipped in after the Dec. 13 fire. The school building also served as a food pantry and all canned goods were destroyed in the blaze.
Davis told the Russellville Courier that the school has completely restocked the food pantry, thanks to the donations.
School administrators say the fire affected a former elementary school building that was being used as a computer lab and for other classroom space, as well as the food bank.
Hector Assistant Fire Chief Jake Jones said the building is a loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
