Daughter of Charlie Rich dies at 56

Laurie Rich Lee, the daughter of the Arkansas native country singer Charlie Rich, died Dec. 22, at the age of 56.

Lee, of Harrison, was born Sept. 5, 1956 in West Memphis and was raised by her parents, Charlie and Margaret Ann Rich, both successful country singers, composers and producers. Charlie Rich was a Grammy Award winner remembered for hits such as "Behind Closed Doors" and "The Most Beautiful Girl."

Lee followed in her parents' footsteps.

She performed as a backup singer to her father, and to Ronnie Milsap and Conway Twitty. Lee's musical appearances included a Wembley concert HBO special and Entertainment Tonight and extensive touring of the U.S.. During her time with Milsap, she performed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn.

According to an obituary in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Lee was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ranee; a brother, Jack; and a son, Caleb Lee. She is survived by her husband, Keith Lee; son, Cole Lee; and a brother, Charlie Rich, Jr.

Lee was a graduate of Benton High School and attended the University of Arkansas.
