ASHDOWN Little River County Sheriff-elect Gary Gregory said nine members on the current sheriff’s staff who will not be retained will be replaced with personnel he has “confidence in being true and faithful to the citizens.”
Seven deputies, a transport deputy and the chief dispatcher were notified by letter on Dec. 21 that they would not be retained.
Outgoing Sheriff Danny Russell — who did not seek re-election — said Gregory was dismissing dedicated and experienced employees.
Gregory said in a letter to the Texarkana Gazette that his staff will be ready to work and provide the best law enforcement and customer service to county residents.
Gregory says he understands the disappointment of the employees who are not being retained — but adds that he can’t please everyone.
Gregory takes office Jan. 1.

Gee, that is going to look great when they apply somewhere else. "Not retained because I didn't have confidence in them being true and faithful to the citizens". Does that imply criminal behavior?
