— Clorox Water Lily Compostable Cleaning Wipes

The name Clorox conjures up thoughts of bleach and strong smelling chemicals for tough cleaning.

But through their Green Works division, Clorox is getting into the business of environmentally friendly cleaning - without wimping out.

Case in point: its new Compostable Cleaning Wipes.

There’s no bleach in these wipes. Instead, they use citric acid, ethanol, glycerin, plant-based cleaning agents and wood-based fibers for the wipe part.

The wipes are safe for most surfaces including fiberglass, acrylic and vinyl.

Just wipe and let air-dry. But you need to rinse if it’s a food preparation surface.

For those who see “wipes” and think of diapers and hand sanitizers, the packaging points out that these are not for cleaning babies, adults or anyone in between.

As the name suggests, Green Works strongly encourages you to compost these wipes instead of tossing them in the trash can.

As for the scent, “Water Lily” is a mild, flowery sort of smell that shouldn’t remind you of bleach.
