LAKE VILLAGE - Adolph B. Morara, age 89, of Lake Village died Wednesday, December 26th, 2012 at Delta Regional Hospital In Greenville, Miss., After a brief illness induced by a fall. A.B., as he was universally known, was born August 30, 1923 to Luccio and Frankie Morara in Readland (Eudora), Ark.

Introduced into the Army Air Corps in 1943, A.B. survived several actions while fighting for his country. To highlight just a few, on June 4th 1944 A.B. jumped from a burning plane over Italy; 5 of his fellow crewmen were killed in that incident. In another A.B. was on a plane that crash-landed on a farm in Hungary on July 7th, 1944 and taken prisoner by theGerman Army. On February 6th 1945 the Nazis ordered the prisoners to get up and start walking in what was to be known as the German Death March. The cruelties endured were too numerous to be listed here but on that trek A.B. and another POW carried one of their comrades for miles in order to prevent his death. A.B. was liberated at Bitterfield, Germany April 26th 1945.

A.B’s life won’t be remembered for his military action, however. A.B. will be remembered by all for always having a smile and spending most of his life laughing. His laughter and humor was contagious, which kept his friends and family from never getting enough of being around Mr. A.B.
